Where does the FMS get it’s information from?
1) GPS
2) DME/DME
3) VOR DME
4) Dead Reckoning.
What does the Pitot Static 3 system supply air data to?
1) Standby IAS
2) Standby ALT
3) CPAM
Where does ADC 1 get its data from? What about ADC2?
ADC1 = Pitot tube 1, Static 1 and Static 4
ADC2= Pitot tube 2, Static 2 and Static 3
What is the range of the Radar? Where is is most effective?
300 mile range. Most effective around 40-60 miles.
What is the RCT button
Rain Echo Attenuation - paint the shadows blue
what is the STAB button
Stabilization, do not turn off.
What is the TGT button what does it tell you?
Target
1) Green = Target alert enables
2) Yellow = Detects LVL3 or higher T/S on your nose beyond the selected range.
What does the SECT button do?
Sector - cuts your radar sweep range in half (from 120 to 60).
What does the knob in the STBY position do, what if in the WX position?
STBY - Warmup
WX - Turns on the RADAR.
In what position should the radar be if on the ground
OFF or STBY.
What happens if you forget to turn the radar off on the ground after you land
WIll go into forced standby.
How can you over-ride forced standby on the ground and when would you do this?
Push the STAB button 4 times in 3 seconds. You would do this if you need to see airborne WX before T/O.
What does the GMAP position do? When is it required to be on?
Ground mapping, required for 1 pilot to have on when in mountainous terrain.
How do you put the radar tilt in PARK?
Paint the ground from 20,000 feet for 20 miles (range) then tilt up 6°
How do you manually control the GAIN knob
Pull out.
What is a radar “shadow” and how do you avoid it
An area of weather so intense that the radar cannot penetrate it to paint though which creates a black shadow behind the weather.
Push the RCT button which will paint the shadow blue for awareness.
What is the only light you will have in the cockpit during an emergency?
Cockpit dome light (Hot Bus).
How many sets of Nav lights are on each wing tip
Two
How many landing lights do we have? where are they?
Three landing lights, one on each wing and one on the nose.
When will the emergency lights come on? How are they powered and how long does it take to charge them?
1) Come on during an electrical emergency
2) Powered by 4 dedicated battery packs charged off the ESS bus
3) 15 mins to charge and last 15 mins when activated.
How does glow strip lighting work and how long does it take to charge?
Photo Illuminated, needs 15 mins of ambient lighting to charge.
In what position do the EMER lights need to be in order to charge?
ARM
What are the positions on the FAs EMER light control?
1) NORM - is the Normal position
2) ON - will activate the emergency lights regardless of cockpit position.
