Systems - Fuel Flashcards
How does fuel flow from the wing tip to the wing root?
Gravity
How is fuel fed into the fuel system?
3 boost pumps in each wing located at the wing root inside the collector box.
How is the collector box ensured to be kept full of fuel?
1) By Gravity Flow and Flapper Valves
2) With an Ejector (Venturi) pump.
How are the fuel pumps powered on each side?
- A pumps = on side essential bus
- B pumps = cross side essential bus
- C pumps = on side DC.
What happens if the selected pump fails and at what pressure will this occur?
The other two pumps come on automatically at 6.5 psi.
What happens if all three pumps fail?
There is a suction feed pickup in the FPMU which will feed the system below 25,000 feet.
What is the only way to close the fuel shutoff valve at the wing root?
Pull fire handle.
When we select X-Feed, where does the fuel go from the feeding tank?
To whatever needs the fuel (engine, APU etc).
How would you feed the right engine and APU from the left tank?
turn the X-feed knob pointer to the right side
How many boost pumps are needed to feed both engines and the APU? Are there any limitations?
1 boost pump except during takeoff, landing and go-around.
Can there fueler add fuel if there is no power to the Jet? if yes, how?
Yes, there is a switch to provide power from battery #2 and is also on the HOT bus.
Where is the fuel temperature sensor located
Left tank
Which tank does the APU normally get its fuel from?
Right Tank
How many magna sticks are there per wing and what do they do?
1) 3 per wing
2) The measure fuel quantity when fuel guage is inop.
