Systems - MCP / DSP / EFIS Control Panel Flashcards
If the EFIS control panel should fail, is there another way to make inputs?
Yes. Through the CDU menu page.
If the display select panel should fail, is there another way to make inputs?
Yes. Through the CDU menu page
What is the minimum altitude for autopilot engagement and usage?
- 200’ on takeoff
- 50’ below MDA on a non-precision approach
- without land 2 or 3 annunciated you must disconnect before 200’ AGL.
What does the autopilot disengage bar do besides disengaging the autopilot?
Disables bank angle protection
When is the CLB CON switch used?
- Inop on the ground and below 400’
- With 2 engines operating changes the thrust limit to the FMC selected climb thrust
- With 1 engine, changes the thrust limit to max continuous.
If the approach mode is selected on an ILS approach and you are below 1500ft (Land 3 annunciated) can you de-select the approach mode by pushing the switch?
No. You must disconnect the autopilot, turnoff both flight directors, then back on. Then select the desired flight director function and re-engage the autopilot.
What is the max rate climb?
Flaps up Maneuver speed + 60kts until intercepting .82M
What would you consider if you saw LANDING ALT in the advisory EICAS message?
There is no landing altitude available from the FMC. Check the destination
What is the function of the autopilot disengage bar?
- disengages both A/Ps
- disables master warning lights
- disables aural warnings
- disables bank angle protection
When armed:
when does LNAV become active?
when does VNAV become active?
LNAV - 50 feet RA
VNAV - 400 feet RA
When VNAV is engaged, what program does it follow?
speed selections appearing on the VNAV CLB, CRZ and DES pages according to COST INDEX
When FLCH is selected in auto flight what happens?
A/T reengages, aircraft will climb or descend to ALT set, existing airspeed appears in SPD window
When VERTICAL SPEED is selected in auto flight, will current airspeed be maintained?
V/S regulates to descent or climb rate not airspeed, more thrust or drag may be necessary to maintain speed
What is the difference between the HDG and TRK functions?
TRK provides wind compensation, HDG does not, TRK SEL can be used if LNAV fails
Explain the function of FPV (flight path vector)
level flight can be achieved in manual flight by placing the FPV symbol over the PFD horizon bar
