Systems - EEC & Autostart Flashcards
What do the EECs protect the engines against in the normal mode?
- thrust limit
- overspeed protection
What do the EECs protect the engines against in the ALTN mode?
Overspeed
How do the EECs select the soft alternate mode?
Automatically
Why do we then manually select the hard-alternate mode on both engines?
To avoid split thrust
What must we do prior to manually selecting the hard alternate mode?
Reduce the thrust on the good EEC engine
Is auto throttle available in the hard alternate mode?
Yes
How many attempts will autostart make to start an engine (Ground/Flight…GE)
Ground - it will do 3 attempts
Inflight - unlimited
Does it do anything different on each attempt at a restart?
Ground - it uses both ignitors on the second and 3rd attempts and alters the fuel schedule
When will AutoStart not attempt another start? (Ground)
- no N1 rotation
- insufficient air pressure
- starter shaft fails
- start time exceeds starter duty cycle
What does AutoStart not monitor?
- oil pressure
- oil temp
What action would you take for no oil pressure?
Bring the fuel control switch to cutoff
What is the controlling parameter in the normal mode?
N1
When is continuous ignition automatically applied?
- During a detected flameout condition with Engine A/I ON
- flaps out of UP
