SUX Flashcards
1
Q
Sux - Class (1)
A
- neuromuscular blocker (ACh depolarizing)
2
Q
Sux - Action (2)
A
- Binds w/ cholinergic receptors on skeletal muscle (and diaphgram) fibers that depolarizes it and causes fasciculations- Releases Histamine
3
Q
Sux - Indications (3)
A
- Facilitate RSI- Terminating Laryngospasms- Muscle Relaxant
4
Q
Sux - Contraindications (5)
A
- Hx of malignant hyperthermia- skeletal muscle myopathies- airway anatomy makes intubation unlikely- hypersensitivity- Acute Rhabdomyolysis (Cell membrane blocked from K uptake)
5
Q
Sux - Side Effects (6)
A
- Initial muscle fasciculation- malignant hyperthermia- may exacerbate hyper K in post trauma crush injury, burn and paralyzed limb- excessive salivation- hypotension- bradycardia
