- inhibits NaCl reabsorption in proximal tubules/loop of henle- direct venodilating effects which decreases venous return to heart (decreased preload)

- acute cardiogenic pulmonary edema- HTN crisis- Chronic CHF

A
- allergy to sulfonamides- dehydrated pt- anuric pt (no pee)- electrolyte depletion

Lasix - Side Effects (5)
A
CHEST- Hypovolemia/orthostatic Hypotension- tinnitus (transient deafness)- muscle cramps and weakness- electrolyte problems (Na, K, Ca, and Mag depletion due to pee)- Signs of HypoK (cramps, fatigue, malaise/weakness)
