If smoke alarm advise dispatch
Investigate the cause of the alarm.
Ensure personnel wear PPE for conditions
Take necessary action to mitigate situation.
When would the incident commander request that the gas company respond to the scene of a CO call?
OG 515 CO response
-a CO level of over 9 ppm and cannot explain why.
– PFS shuts off gas appliance.
– someone is showing signs of being ill due to carbon monoxide.
-the incident commander determines a response by the gas company is required.
CO call, more than 9ppm but less than 100ppm. What is the procedure?
– Any reading above 9ppm shall be considered above normal reading.
– Occupants shall be informed that PFS has detected a potentially dangerous level of CO.
-recommended that all persons leave the area and begin ventilation.
– If it is determined that an appliance is malfunctioning and producing CO it shall be shut down.
– Once the area has been reduced to a safe level of CO it may be occupied at the discretion of the occupant.
-attempt to reset the detector.
– Inform occupants that if it activates again to call the fire department.
– The occupants shall be informed of the action that has taken place and if the gas company has been requested to respond by the fire department.

– Inform the occupants that a potentially lethal level of C0 has been detected
– Order the occupants to leave the area immediately.
– If it is determined that an appliance is malfunctioning and producing CO, it shall be shut down.
– Once the area has been reduced to a safe level of CO, it may be occupied at the discretion of the occupant.
– Attempt to reset the detector.
