. Reichstag deputies did not represent constituencys they were selected by the number of votes the party received meaning there was no relationship between the deputy and its voters
.Deputies were not allowed to display any individuality but had to behave according to the dictates of their party leading to a sterile debating chamber remote from the concerns of ordinary voters
.Factional rivalries at the top weakened many parties and acted on party and self interest not of the nation
