What were concentration camps?
Concentration camps were prison camps. They were established as early as 1933 for political prisoners. They were not designed for killing, they housed political prisoners, criminals and homosexuals.

Death camps were designed for the extermination of Jews and ‘Untermenschen’ (racial undesirables).
