glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase, Micronase)
Therapeutic Uses
glipizide (Glucotrol & Glucotrol XL)
glimepiride (Amaryl)
glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase, Micronase)
Type 2 diabetes
Mechanism of Action
glipizide (Glucotrol & Glucotrol XL)
glimepiride (Amaryl)
glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase, Micronase)
Stimulate the pancreatic Beta-cells to release insulin. Enhances the cellular sensitivity to the insulin (makes the insulin work better)
Adverse Effects
glipizide (Glucotrol & Glucotrol XL)
glimepiride (Amaryl)
glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase, Micronase)
Can cause mild hypoglycemia; weight gain
Administration
glipizide (Glucotrol & Glucotrol XL)
glimepiride (Amaryl)
glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase, Micronase)
Taken orally typically with a meal (or 10-30 min before a meal)
