What is murder suicide?
Individual kills one or more other persons before/at the same time as killing him/herself.
Describe the best course to treat suicidal ideality
- Interview about triad (ideation, intent, plans)
- Take Hx of risk factors
- Ask about protective things that keep them alive
- Use least restrictive approach
- Hospitalize
Policy on forced hospitalization for depression?
High risk - hospitalize 1-63 days if patient cannot be safely maintained with meds, psychoTx
What is the most likely demographic for suicide?
Elderly depressed male followed by teenage depressed boy
What acute events are highly indicative of suicide?
Jittery and anxiousness especially in a male teen.
