Describe stage one Acquisition
Ships left Europe with goods
Armed crew kidnapped, traded and took prisoners as war for slaves
Describe stage two: Middle Passage - Transportation
Ships sailed for 8-10 weeks over Atlantic
Many Africans refused to eat, rebelled and jumped ship
Loose packing - take on less enslaved persons to reduce deaths
Tight packing - carry as many as possible, they believed some were dying anyways
Describe stage three: Arrival and auctions
Africans sold in auctions
Captains then used that money to buy goods to sell in Europe
When was there complete emancipation
1833: Abolition of Slavery Act passed in Britain which results in complete emancipation by 1838
