STUDY GUIDE MOD #2 Flashcards
THE WRIST BONES
CARPALS
PERPPHIAL NERVOUS SYSTEM RESPONSIBLE FOR MOVEMENT
SOMATIC
THE DIVISION OF THE PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS INVOLUNTARY MOTOR FUNCTION.
AUTONOMIC
A FORM OF SUGAR; THE BODY’S BASIC SOURCE OF ENERGY.
GLUCOSE
The tendency toward a relatively stable equilibrium between interdependent elements, especially as maintained by physiological processes.
HOMEOSTASIS
A PROCESS BY WHICH MOLECULES MOVE FROM AN AREA OF HIGH CONCENTRATION TO AN AREA OF LOW CONCENTRATION.
DIFFUSION
The posterior part of the brain, continuous with the spinal cord. Controls breathing and heart rate.
BRAIN STEM
THE CELLULAR PROCESS IN WHICH GLUCOSE IS METABOLIZED INTO ENERGY WITHOUT OXYGEN. ENERGY IS PRODUCED IN AN INEFFICIENT MANNER .
ANAREBOIC METABOLISM
THE CELLULAR PROCESS IN WHICH OXYGEN IS USED TO METABOLIZE GLUCOSE. ENERGY IS PRODUCED IN AN EFFICIENT MANNER WITH MINIMAL WASTE PRODUCTS.
AEROBIC METABOLISM
LOW OXYGEN
HYPOXIA
