MOD #3 STUDY GUIDE Flashcards
AS PART OF THE BRAIN, WHAT DOES THE CEREBRUM DO?
initiation of movement, coordination of movement, temperature, touch, vision, hearing, judgment, reasoning, problem solving, emotions, and learning.
AS PART OF THE BRAIN, WHAT DOES THE CEREBELLUM DO?
The cerebellum receives information from the sensory systems, the spinal cord, and other parts of the brain and then regulates motor movements.
WHAT DOES THE BRAIN STEM DO?
The brainstem has many basic functions, including regulation of heart rate, breathing, sleeping, and eating. It also plays a role in conduction.
WHAT DOES THE SPINAL CORD DO?
It is a highway of communication from the brain, sending messages to other parts of the body including instructing muscles that control movement.
It also carries sensory information back to the brain.
A deep state of prolonged unconsciousness
Coma
A loss of blood flow to part of the brain, which damages brain tissue. CVAs are caused by blood clots and broken blood vessels in the brain.
CVA–Cerebrovascular Accident (Stroke)
