Pointed out faults in hospital training schools (long hours, little teaching, using students as free labor) and resulted in the establishment of the Yale University School of Nursing

Identified education competencies for 2005 and identified the need for nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners (advanced practice nurses) and the role of nurses in health promotion.
1995 Reforming Healthcare Workforce Regulation (PEW Health Commission)
Mission was to help schools understand the need for the future and design and implement programs preparing workers for the future. Also recommended reform of the licensing process inducing eliminating specific scopes of practice.
