What is the deck?
A
- A horizontal watertight platform which encloses the hull.
- A solid working platform capable of supporting any loads resting on it.

A
-Longitudinal strakes of plating across the width of the ship.

How does deck stiffening occur?
A
- With longitudinal framing, a series of closely spaced longitudinals are used in addition to deep web transverses.
- With transverse framing, transverse deck beams are used at every frame space.

What are deck beams?
A
- Beams are fitted across the width of the vessel and are joined to the side frames by brackets know as “beam knees”
- Longitudinal girders which run alongside the hatchways are fitted on the vessel.

What is a Bullwark?
A
-Barriers fitted to the deck edge for the protection of passengers and crew and to avoid items being lost overboard if the ship is rolling excessively.

What is the railings and their specifications?
A
- Unlike bullwalks, railings are set back from the edge.
- The max lower rail spacing is 230mm
- The max spacing for rails above the lower rail is 380mm
