What does the STOP step correlate with?
- -Decide if this question is something I should answer now or later
- -Try to not look at the answers
What does the THINK step correlate with?
Think about the different tools or specific strategies for that type of question
What does the PREDICT step correlate with?
Usually your first prediction is right, especially if you have applied a specific strategy and knowledge
–Have an idea of your answer before you look at the given answers
What does the MATCH step correlate with?
Look at the answers and pick on that matches your prediction
What should you do if you come to a problem that you really don’t know how to do?
Pick your favorite answer quickly and MOVE ON.
- -ONLY MARK QUESTIONS YOU ARE SURE YOU CAN SOLVE, BUT YOU KNOW WILL TAKE A BIT OF TIME
- -You likely won’t know how to solve it any better in 20 mins.
What is the pacing for natural sciences?
54 sec/question
If you haven’t solved a problem in natural sciences by the minute mark?
Stop and determine if you are about 30 seconds away from solving. If you have no idea, pick your favorite answer and MOVE ON. If you are pretty sure you could solve it with another minute or so, MARK and come back
What is the best way to ensure that you get wrong answers on the DAT?
Looking at the answers and seeing which one “jumps out” at you
Is it ok to sometimes look at the answer choices in Quantitative Reasoning? If so, why?
YES, because you can be clued into which strategy to use in solving (estimation, etc.)
On the DAT are there more than one correct answer per question, but one answer is simply the “best” choice?
