How can you identify an emergency alarm on board?
Anything in red on board
What does an emergency alarm do?
They set in the breaks when activated
On most trains, the driver can override this
How can you identify the emergency door releases on board?
Anything in green on board
Remember green to get out of the train
What happens when an EGRESS is activated?
The train will come to a stop, and when the train reaches 5mph it will allow you to release the door
What emergency equipment do we have on board?
Fire extinguishers, wooden ladders, first aid kits, crow bars, rope, saw, hammer, glow sticks, axe
What is a Stranded train?
A passenger or empty coaching stock train must be stationary and established that there is no reasonable certainty that the train will resume its journey within the next 20 minutes, reasonable certainty that it will resume its journey but only after a delay at least 30 minutes (since coming to a stand)
A train at an unstaffed station with no facilities may also be declared/classified as a stranded train after a risk based approach to the station is applied
