Stomach/liver/spleen/celiac trunk Flashcards
where is the cardiac notch?
indentation on the stomach located immediately to the left of the cardiac orifice
where is the angular notch?
indentation on the stomach located in the lower part of the lesser curvature
where is the antrum of the stomach
extends from the angular notch to the pylorus
where does the abdominal aorta begin and end?
T12 to L4
divides into right common iliac artery and left common iliac artery
what are the UNPAIRED VISCERAL branches of the abdominal aorta?
celiac trunk
superior mesenteric a.
inferior mesenteric a.
what are the PAIRED VISCERAL branches of the abdominal aorta?
Middle suprarenal aa.
renal aa.
ovarian/testicular aa.
what are the UNPAIRED PARIETAL branches of the abdominal aorta?
median sacral a.
what are the PAIRED PARIETAL branches of the abdominal aorta?
inferior phrenic aa.
lumbar aa.
where does the celiac trunk originate?
T12
what are the 3 branches of the celiac trunk?
Left gastric artery
splenic artery
common hepatic artery
where does the left gastric artery go?
the cardiac region of the stomach
descends along lesser curvature
anastomoses w/ right gastric artery
where does the splenic artery run from the celiac trunk?
superior border of the pancreas to the hilum of the spleen w/in the splenorenal ligament
what are the branches of the splenic artery?
pancreatic branches
left gastroepiploic artery
short gastric arteries
where does the common hepatic artery run from the celiac trunk?
anteriorly and to the right to the 1st part of the duodenum
what are the two branches of the common hepatic artery?
proper hepatic artery (part of the portal triad)
gastroduodenal artery
[right gastric artery comes off here too]
the proper hepatic artery has 2 branches off of it… what are they?
right hepatic artery
left hepatic artery
what are the 3 branches off of the gastroduodenal branch?
right gastroepiploic artery
posterior superior pancreaticoduodenal a.
anterior superior pancreaticoduodenal a.
what is the main blood supply to the stomach?
left gastric artery right gastric artery left gastroepiploic artery right gastroepiploic artery short gastric arteries
where does all the blood supply from the stomach drain?
directly or indirectly into the Portal vein
what does the porta hepatitis contain?
right and left hepatic ducts branches of proper hepatic artery branches of portal vein autonomic nerves hepatic lymph nodes + vessels
what forms the right sagittal fissure of the liver (right limb of the ‘h’)?
groove for gallbladder and groove for IVC
what forms the left sagittal fissure (left limb of ‘h’)?
fissure for round ligament of liver and fissure for ligamentum venosum
what does the ductus venosus do?
allows blood to bypass liver and go straight to IVC
what does the ductus venosus become after birth?
ligamentum venosum
