- construct a covered reservoir, decommissioning the existing reservoirs to ensure a secure and sustainable supply of drinking water to over 200,000 people across Dublin, replacing the decommissioned reservoirs with a landscape amenity area. PQQ advertised for Design and Build Contract
Murphy held discussions with AECOM
(Murphy bought out AECOM D+B in ROI)
Both parties discussed their resources and expertise then agreed to Bid together
No charge to Murphy at PQQ stage (profit leader)
Murphy shortlisted by Irish water
ITT stage – design fee agreed – used AECOM’s T’s &C’s – used for speed just to do tender
- Fee and programme agreed + win bonus for AECOM
Challenges
Designers Hazard Register:
Challenge - Maintenance of meadow on roof of structure
Solution - Access slope and strength of building
Challenge - Little ground information as only known once reservoirs are drained
Solution – Communication with civils team, discussion on condition of already drained reservoir
