Stats Tests Flashcards
What is a T-test
tests the difference between means of two treatment groups measuring one variable. We did a t-test in lab 8 for Pmax, slope and light compensation point. If you have two enzymes and want to see which is more efficient use t-test
What is a chi square
Looking at the expected and observed values and comparing the two. We used a chi square test in lab 9 and 10 for phenotypes of flies.
What is an anova test
Analysis of variants, can measure multiple variables. Compares the F-critical to the F-ratio. If you have five enzymes and want to see which is most efficient use ANOVA.
What happens if the f-ratio is bigger than the f-critical
We reject the null hypothesis
What is the formula for f-ratio
Between group variability/ within group variability
What size does the p-value have to be in a t-test or chi square test to doubt the null
0.05
What is the equation for the chi square
((Observed-expected)^2)/Expected
What is the equation for the standard curve
Y=mx+b
Y- absorbance
x-concentration
