Q

What is meiosis

A

Meiosis is the reduction in chromosome number of cells to assure that the chromosome numbers in the cell stays the same from generation to generation. The number turns from diploid (2n) to haploid (n), in 2 successive divisions.

Q

What is a gene

A

A discrete unit of heredity info consisting of a specific sequence of nucleotides in DNA, the two genes in a pair of homologous chromosomes need not to be identical at the DNA level

Q

What type of gene divisions are there

A

Some genes divide following the law of independent assortment, some genes are linked because they are close on the chromosome

Q

What is the law of segregation

13
Q

What is the p value

A

We find the p-value from finding our degrees of freedom and finding the number in the row closest to the chi square. The lower the p value, the higher the chance we doubt the null. A p-value lower than 0.05 means we have reason to doubt the null

14
Q

How do we calculate chi square

A

Sum of ((observed-expected)^2/expected)
