Standard Shoulder Views Flashcards
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Patient Measurement
A-P at the coracoid process
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: SID
40”
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Tube Tilt
None
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Image Receptor Size
10 x 12” in landscape orientation
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Patient Positioning
-Patient is standing or seated, with the posterior aspect of the affected shoulder touching the grid
-Patient’s scapula is placed against the grid, with unaffected side of the patient’s body rotated slightly away from the grid
-Arm of affected side is internally/externally rotated as far as possible w/ patient’s hand resting on hip of affected side
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Central Ray
Through the center of coracoid process
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Collimation
12” horizontally and 10” vertically
AP Internal/External Rotation Shoulder: Breathing Instructions
Suspended Respiration and Motion (“Don’t breathe and don’t move”)
Scapular Y-View: Patient Measurement
A-P at the coracoid process
Scapular Y View: SID
40”
Scapular Y View: Tube Tilt
None
Scapular Y View: Image Receptor Size
10 x 12”, in portrait orientation
Scapular Y-View: Patient Positioning
-Patient stands facing the grid at a 45-60 degree angle with the affected shoulder touching the grid
-Scapula is palpated and rotated so body of scapula is perpendicular to the grid
Scapular Y-View: Central Ray
-Horizontal crosshair of the central ray is located at the spine of the scapula
-Vertical crosshair of the central ray is located at the scapulothoracic joint
Scapular Y-View: Collimation
10” horizontally and 12” vertically
