Q

Explain my use of identification, analysis, matrix and engagement techniques

A

On my Little Stour Project, I conducted a workshop to do the first three parts of this. I worked with them to identify various stakeholders on the project. We used the power/interest analysis to assign them into roups and matrix them. I then created communication strategies for each, and logged this in my project management plan. This was a good example of the iceberg model, as the stakeholders that were not identified were troublesome ones!

Q

How do I identify stakeholders?

A

I start with the easy ones - client, end user, any regulatory bodies. I then will come up with a list of others, on my mains replacemnt projects this also includes highways authorities, local councils, environmental groups etc. I would then have a session with the wider team to try and identify any I’d missed.

this should be treated as something similar to a risk register - created at the outset, but constantly updated and revisited.

Q

Two stakeholders with competing objectives

A

I have - on many of my projects! I’ve had situations where the regulator wants a project complete to the highest quality, and the client wants it completed for the lowest possible budget.

I manage this situation by identifying common ground. For example, identifying that
