What is afferent loop syndrome?
Obstruction of the afferent loop of a Billroth II gastrojejunostomy
What is blind loop syndrome?
Bacterial overgrowth of intestine caused by stasis
What is compartment syndrome?
Compartmntal hypertension caused by edema
Results in msucle necrosis
Nerves are lost first
What is dumping syndrome?
Delivery of lar amounts of hyperosmolar chyme into the small bowel
After vagotomy, gastric drainage procedure
Results in autonomic instability, abdominal pain, diarrhea
What is Gardner’s syndrome?
GI polyps and associated findings - sebaceous cysts, osteomas, desomid tumors (SOD)
Polyps have high malignant potential
What is Leriche’s syndrome?
Claudication of buttock and thights
Impotence
Atrophy of legs
Seen with iliac occlusive disease
What is Mendelson’s syndrome?
Chemical pneumonitis after aspiration of gastric contents
What is Mirizzi’s syndrome?
Extrinsic obstruction of teh common hepatic bile duct from a gallstone in the gallbladder or cystic duct
What is Ogilvie’s syndrome?
Massive nonobstructive colonic dilation

Benign GI polyps and buccal pigmentation
