What is a skill ?
A learned ability to bring about the result you want with maximum certianty & efficiancy
What is a closed skill + example ?
Takes place in a stable enviroment, Not affected by the enviroment. Movements follow set patterns with clear start & finish. Self paced.
For example : Golf swing, 100M sprint, Sommersault
What is a complex skill + example ?
Needs complete attention and concentration. Technically difficult. Need to practiced over & over so it can be performed in a competative situation.
For example: Twisting sommersault, Sailing a boat
What is an open skill + example ?
Takes place in a chnaging enviroment. Player has to adapt to surroundings. Often in a competetive situation.
For example: Rugby tackle, Saving a goal
What is a basic skill + example ?
One that is easy and needs little concentration .
For example: Passing in netball, 100M sprint
What is a low organosational skill + example ?
Clear, simple phrases or parts. Can be easily broken down & practiced seperatley.
For example : Dance routine & Breastroke
What is a high organisational skill + example ?
A lot of complicates phrases or parts. Which cannot be broken down or practiced seperatley as they are closely linked.
For example: Golf swing, Sommersault
What is a fixed practice structure ?
The same skill practiced repeatedly in the same way , over & over until perfect
What is a variable practice structure ?
Skill is practised in a variety of situations, allowing adaptations to suit different unpredictable & changing conditions
What is massed practice ?
Skill is repeated continously over long periods without any breaks
What is distribute practice ?
Skill practised with breaks to allow rest, feedback & mental rehersal
What are the advantages & disadvantges of visual guidance ?

What is intrinsic feedback ?
- Comes from within you
- How you feel the action has gone
- Can affect motivation
- Not suitable for beginners
What is extrinsic feedback ?
- Comes from an external sources - coach or teamate
- Is important as it helps you improve
- Perect for beginners
What is terminal feedback ?
- Feedback given at the end of the game / performance
- Is good as it is reflective
What is concurrent feedback ?
- Feedback given at the time of the performance
- This feedback can be acted on immediatley
- Appropriate for begineers & experienced players

How do you make a target specific ?
- Not making it vauge
- Knowing exactly what it is

- Focus on what needs to be achived
How do you make a target measurable ?
Having a way to measure it - Time, distnce, reps e.t.c

- Improves motivation
How do you make a target achivable ?
Setting a goal that can be attained to increase motivation

- Prevents de-motivation
- Avoids boredom if target is too easy
