Ascon grade - smooth sides, vase shape and open top

No true tissues, organs, gut or nervous system
Asymmetrical
Cells loosely aggregated with high regenerative potential
body with pores and chambers for water to flow through
Cnidaria characteristics
Body wall three layered
single body cavity called coelenteron
Possess nematocysts
can be solitary or colonial
