Anterior Cord Syndrome
Flexion injury
Corticospinal and spinothalamic tracts
Loss of motor function and pain & temperature sense below lesion
Brown-Sequard’s Syndrome
Hemisection of spinal cord
Corticospinal and dorsal columns - paralysis and loss of vibratory and position sense on same side
Lateral spinothalamic - loss of pain and temperature on opposite side
Cauda Equina
Occurs below L1 spinal levels
Flaccidity, areflexia, impairment of bowel & bladder
Central Cord Syndrome
Cervical hyperextension
Spinothalamic, corticospinal, and dorsal columns
UE > LE
Posterior Cord Syndrome
Compression of posterior spinal artery
Loss of proprioception, two point discrimination, stereognosis
Preservation of motor function, sense of pain, and light touch
