Somatic symptom disorder
Individuals with physical symptoms that have no apparent physical explanation.
Illness anxiety disorder
(Hypochondriasis). Severe anxiety is focused on the possibility of having or developing a serious disease. Often run to the doctors.
Psychological factors affecting medical condition
Presence of a medical condition, e.g. diabetes, where psychological factors can affect the already existing condition e.g. anxiety can worsen asthma.
Conversion disorder (functional neurological symptom disirder)
Generally, have to do with physical malfunctioning, e.g. paralysis, blindness etc without any physical or organic pathology to account for the condition.
Factitious disorders
Fabricated symptoms, either caused by oneself or perpetrated by others (Munchausen by proxy, typical child abuse).
Depersonalization-derealization disorder
Experiences of unreality, detachment or being an outside observer of one’s own life.
Dissociative amnesia
People with this type of amnesia are unable to remember anything, including who they are.
Dissociative identity disorder
People with this disorder may adopt as many as 100 new identities, all simultaneously coexisting. DSM-5 criteria include amnesia.
