Answer 1

• RICE
  > rest injured part
  > ice immediately: never directly on skin, 20 mins on 20 mins off
  > compression w/ wet elastic bandage
  > elevation
• Immobilization & support as needed

Dislocation

Answer 2

• Displacement of normal position of opposing bone ends or of bone ends to socket
• Occurs when force of stress on ligament is sufficient to cause displacement
• Pain: incrs w/ active or passive movement of affected extremity
• More common in children w. down syndrome
• Commonly seen in fingers & elbows

Dislocation - Treatment

• Put back w/in 1hr
• Ice immediately
• Want to dcr inflammation asap to prevent complications
