Lord of the Manor: The tenant of a noble who has the inherited right to run and to profit from a manor

Freeholder: a person who owns his or her land.
Thatching
Thatching: using special grass to make roofs for buildings
Fletching
Fletching: fitting feathers on arrows
Demesne
Demesne: Lands set aside for the lord of the manor
Bailiff
Bailiff: a person who collected rents and supervised serfs and freeholders on a manor
Fallow
Fallow: no crops were planted and weeds were ploughed under twice, this loosened the soil and controlled plant disease and killed weeds. It let the nutrients get back into the soil.
Sustainable
Sustainable: Balance between maintaining the productivity of their fields and planting enough crops to feed the local population
