a humanism is a system of thought that centers on humans and their values, capacities and worth
How were Renaissance times different than Medieval times?
Medieval times centered around the castle and manor, they were very closed thinking, but in the Renaissance people read more and discuss ideas.
What were the humanities?
The humanities wee history, grammar, rhetoric (writing and speaking effectively) based on Greek and Roman texts
How were humanists different than people of the past?
The humanists believed that human goals were more important than spiritual matters.
How did humanists believe you could find the truth?
To find the truth you have to use reason instead of relying on the bible or other religious teachings.
What did humanists believe about free will?
Humanists thought that people had the ability to choose and create your own destiny.
How was the humanist view of destiny different than Medieval times?
In Medieval times, they thought your destiny was due to God’s will not your free choice to make your life what you wanted
