Social thinking Flashcards
In this attachment style, the child knows the caregiver is consistent and will return to them. They are upset when the caregiver leaves, but are happy when the caregiver returns. The overall outcome is a healthy level of development and social skills
Secure attachment
This model says we have a higher chance of reacting aggressively/negatively when we’re already experiencing negative emotions
Cognitive neoassociation model
In this attachment style, the caregiver has little to no response when the child is distressed. The child doesn’t prefer the caregiver over a stranger, and has little/no distress when the caregiver leaves or arrives
Avoidant
In this attachment style, the caregiver lacks a consistent response to distress, so the child cannot form secure attachments and becomes anxious. The child is distressed when the caregiver leaves but is ambivalent when the caregiver returns
Ambivalent
(can also be anxious-ambivalent)
In this attachment style, the child shows mixed behaviors about the caregiver leaving and retunring (ex: rocking, confusion, repetitive behaviors, avoidance, resistance). It can be a sign of abuse
Disorganized
Poly___ is the term for many females while poly___ is the term for many males
Polygyny
Polyandry
Something that benefits the individual (such as material advantages, protection, emotional support) is a ____ benefit, while something that benefits the individuals offspring is an _____ benefit
Direct
Indirect
_____ is a measure of an organism’s success, and includes altruistic factors such as self-sacrifice so that the offspring can survive and pass on their genes
Inclusive fitness
____ is the idea that good things happen to good people, and bad things happen to bad people
The just-world hypothesis
This mechanism of mate choice is an evolutionary mechanism for increasing the prevalence of desirable traits so that the individual is more attractive to potential mates
Phenotypic benefits
This mechanism of mate choice is a development of a trait to match a preexisting preference
Sensory bias
This mechanism of mate choice is an evolutionary trait that increases in commonality over time. It can be neutral or negative (like bright colors that make the individual stand out)
Fisherian/runaway selection
This mechanism of mate choice signifies health and doesn’t have to be genetic
Indicator traits
This mechanism of mate choice reduces the chance of offspring being homozygous recessive for traits by ensuring individuals have large contrasts in their genetic makeup
Genetic compatibility
These types of attributes relate to the person inartistically, like their personality
Dispositional (internal)
