Tribute

A British warship that intercepted the American trade ship Chesapeake

An American trade ship that was intercepted by the British war ship Leopard but when the Leopard captain asked to search the ship, the captain said no and the Leopard opened fire
Embargo Act
An act passed by Congress that prohibited trade with all countries because the British were enraging the Americans so they tried to hurt Britain’s trade but it instead made America’s trade suffer
Nonintercourse Act
An act passed by Congress that allowed trade with all countries except for Britain and France but was not effective or successful
Napoleon tricks Madison
Madison told Britain and France that whichever one lifts their trade ban first will be able to trade with the Americans but Napoleon continued to seize American ships, even after he agreed to trade with the Americans

Madison thought that Britain was the bigger threat than the French, even though the French tricked him

The Shawnee Chief who organized a Confederacy between Native American tribes and had a brother named the Prophet who was the religious leader of the Native Americans

The American governor of Indiana who feared that Tecumseh and the Prophet would become too powerful and make an alliance with the British

A battle between the Native Americans and the Americans at Prophetstown that ended with the Native Americans seeking out the British

A bunch of young Congressmen who pressured James Madison to declare war on Britain

A member of the House of Representatives from Kentucky who is also a leader of the War Hawks

A senator from South Carolina who was a leader of the War Hawks
Declaration of War
Madison finally concluded that war with Britain was inevitable so he got Congress to declare war, but at the same time, the British were going to stop seizing ships but there was no backing down
