The son of Moses Austin who continued his father’s deal but instead made a deal with Mexico, not Spain, and had an entourage of people coming with him called the Old Three Hundred and then he later became the leader of Texas to make a deal with the Mexicans before the fighting

Stephen F. Austin’s entourage who needed to be moral, need to work hard, and can’t drink alcohol but got 100 acres of land plus extra for kids when they came with him to Texas
Tejanos
Mexican and Spanish settlers who lived in Texas

The Americans were used to governing themselves(from the frontier), few Americans spoke Spanish because they didn’t bother to fit in, there was the issue of slavery(the Americans wanted it but the Mexicans didn’t), and the Tejanos felt the Americans were hard to live with

The Mexican ruler who declared himself dictator and used his army during the Texas Revolution to try to defeat the Texans
Stephen Austin petitions Santa Anna
Austin goes to Santa Anna and asked him to ease the laws but Santa Anna only eased one and Austin sent letter to people updating them on status but also told them about fighting for independence and letter was intercepted so Austin was jailed
Gonzales
A city in Texas where the Texans had a cannon and when the Mexicans came to take it, they put a sign on the cannon that said: “Come and Take it” and they won so the Texans won the first battle of the Texas Revolution
San Antonio
A city in Texas where the Mexicans had a fort that the Texans took which drew a lot of attention to the Revolution so Santa Anna wanted to escalate the battles
Alamo
A mission in San Antonio that was held by the Texans for 12 days before getting destroyed by the Mexicans who had surrounded them and killed all of the Texans but 5 who were later executed
Texas Declaration of Independence
The leaders of the Texans wrote it during the fight for the Alamo to get Independence for Texas
Sam Houston
The commander in chief of the Texan forces who said everyone should abandon their positions, ambushed the Mexicans in the Battle of San Jacinto, and became the first president of Texas
Goliad
A city in which the Texans controlled but were told to abandon and when they abandoned, they ran into Mexicans and were all killed so it is called the “Goliad Massacre”
Battle of San Jacinto
A battle in which the Texans surrounded and ambushed 1300 Mexicans who were sitting by a campfire and 600 Mexicans were killed, 700 captured including Santa Anna

The name of the Texan government that had its own Congress and other government things

The flag was a star that represented the name

Jackson and Van Buren didn’t want it, Harrison died before he could say anything, Tyler wanted it but the Senate didn’t, and James Polk really wanted it and got it annexed
