1861-1865 union vs confederate
What was the Brown vs Board of education?
the Supreme Court ruled that separating children in public schools on the basis of race was wrong
What was the emancipation Proclamation?
An important document issued by Abraham Lincoln declaring all slaves are free
What was central high school, central rock?
The little rock 9 was when black children were treated differently to white so 9 children went to protest
What was the Montgomery bus boycott?
African Americans refused to ride city buses in Montgomery to protest against segregated seating
What was the Birmingham campaign?
To draw attention to segregation ( would use children to help with protests)
What was the march on Washington ?
estimated 250000 marched for the protest against segregation
What was the United Nations Declaration of human independance?
A document that protects the rights of humans everywhere

White & black kept seperate, but told they were treated the same

separating people based on their colour

ending seperation of different colours

Laws created by whites to in force racial segregation

requirement of what people must be to vote
What are black lives matter?
Helps fight discrimination of people with colour
What is amnesty international and what do they do today?
International organisation used to promote human rights. Today it works to protect human rights and provides support to individuals and communities fighting
What is prisoners of conscience?
A person kept in prison because of religious beliefs
