Cognitive Dissonance Theory
reason attitudes are difficult to change
dissonance
people are motivated to have consistent attitudes and behaviors. when they don’t the experience mental tension
Attribution Theory
tendency to give a causal explanation for someone’s behavior , often blaming the: situation or personal disposition
Fundamental Attribution Error
explaining another behavior, tend to underestimate impact of situation and overestimate impact of personal disposition
Foot-In-The-Door Phenomenon
tendency to agree to a big favor and 1st agreed to a small request
Normative Social Influence
influence resulting from a persons desire to gain approval or avoid disapproval
Conformity
adjusting behavior/thinking to align with group standard
Informational Social Influence
resulting from willingness to accept others opinion about reality

understood rule for accepted/excepted behavior
