Youth Sport Environment Questionnaire
Describe YSE questionnaire
-I played a game of netball with my team and after the game had ended we sat together as a team in a quiet area of the hall.
-We got the checklist with 18 questions and answered questions based on social dynamics within the team.
-My answers were ratings from 1-9, 1 being completely disagree and 9 being strongly agreeing.
-When all the questions were answered, I counted up my scores for the set 1 questions, set 2 questions and set 3 questions.
-Set 1 and set 2 questions were out of 72, and set 3 was out of 18. Set 1 and 2s better score would be higher and set 3s better score would be lower.
-Set 1 was in task cohesion, set 2 was on social cohesion and set 3 was on spurious negative scores.
-Once it was done my team and I looked at the norms for this test to see where we ranked as a team.
Explain why you chose YSEQ 4 points
could complete at home
Measurable
Practical and simple
Appropriate
Explain YSEQ could complete at home
This is helpful as I could produce more accurate results as I was not feeling pressure from teammates to answer how they want me to answer instead of answering how I truly feel
Explain YSEQ this means could complete at home
This lead to my data being accurate and allowed me to correctly identify the social weaknesses in the team to create appropriate approaches in my pdp
Explain YSEQ Measurable
This is helpful because it gave me a permanent record of my data, so the data was there forever and I could consistently look back on it.
Explain YSEQ this means Measurable
This meant that after training, I could re-test and compare my old score to my new score, which can allow me to monitor how effective my training is and if it needs to be changed or not.
Explain YSEQ Practical and simple
This meant that it was easy to set up, carry out and analyse my results due to the fact that the norms were readily available and could be interpreted easily.
Explain YSEQ this means Practical and simple
This meant that the test was completed quickly and my results were appropriately analysed, allowing me to create an effective development plan to improve my weaknesses.
Explain YSEQ Appropriate
This is because it is a standardised test that is regularly used, that has norms and has been researched.
Explain YSEQ this means Appropriate
This means that I can trust my results are helpful and they can allow me to accurately create a training plan for improving my weaknesses.
4 points analyse yseq
Complete the test immediately after the game
Complete the test in a quiet area on my own
Understand each statement
Keep a digital copy
Analyse yseq Complete the test immediately after the game
This is because if I wait too long I can forget how I truly felt about each specific factor during the game and end up lying and making up answers in order to complete the wheel.
Analyse yseq this means Complete the test immediately after the game
This could lead to inaccurate results which can give me a weakness that isn’t my real weakness, leading me to create a PDP for the wrong factor, wasting my time.
Analyse yseq Complete the test in a quiet area on my own
This is because it allows me to be calm and take the time to properly concentrate on my performance rather than being distracted and writing down random data.
