FACTOR ON FACTOR Flashcards
2 social on mental + impact
Positive - communication - decision making
Negative - team dynamics - fear
Explain communication - decision making and sport
Football - If I am in midfield driving forward with the ball and my teammate communicates that they are free on the left wing, I can make the decision to play a pass to them.
Explain team dynamics - fear and sport
Basketball - If it is a tight game and I miss an easy lay-up my teammates can criticise me and not encourage me, making me fearful to make another mistake
This means communication - decision making
The person in space gets the ball and can start an attack rather than me get tackled in midfield.
This means - team dynamics - fear
I will no longer get into the position to make a lay up so that I don’t make a mistake, which makes the team less likely to score.
2 social - emotional + impact
positive - Leadership - confidence
negative - Team dynamics - anxiety
Explain and sport Leadership - confidence
If during a game the captain is substituted, the coach can give me the armband which can make me feel more self belief that I am good enough to lead the team and that I deserve it.
Explain and sport - Team dynamics - anxiety
If it is a tight game and I miss an easy lay-up my teammates can criticise me and not encourage me, making me anxious to make another mistake
This means - Leadership - confidence
I am encouraged to take on more players 1 versus 1 and play more risky passes to produce more counter attacks.
This means - Team dynamics - anxiety
I will no longer get into the position to make a lay up so that I don’t make a mistake, which makes the team less likely to score.
2 mental - physical + impact
Negative - Concentration - balance
Negative - Anxiety - accuracy
Explain and sport Concentration - balance
Gymnastics - If I am on the beam and I am too focused on the judges body language and not concentrating on landing my straddle jump, I can end up wobbling on the landing of the jump.
Explain and sport - Anxiety - accuracy
Badminton - If I am anxious about an important game my body can react negatively and feel my muscles begin to tense, which can lead to a smash shot not reaching the left side of the court that I am aiming to hit.
This means Concentration - balance
This means that I can end up falling and my score can drop as the judges notice a lack of balance and ability to stick a jump.
this means- Anxiety - accuracy
My opponent doesn’t have to move far to return my shots and can therefore put more effort into their shots, making me find it difficult to return.
2 mental - emotional + impact
Positive - motivation - happiness
Negative - anticipation - anger
Explain and sport motivation - happiness
Football - If I come onto the pitch as a substitute feeling motivated, I can feel happiness making me feel comfortable to play different types of passes
Explain and sport- anticipation - anger
Tennis - If I am unable to anticipate my opponent’s next shot as I could not pick up his cues in the performance, when he plays a drop shot I cannot react in time to reach the shot causing me to feel anger and have me lash out on the court.
This means motivation - happiness
The defenders cannot anticipate which type of pass I will play as I am happy to experiment
This means- anticipation - anger
The anger can make me hit my racket, causing me to become tense during the rest of the performance.
2 mental - social + impact
Positive - concentration - communication
Positive - mental toughness - crowd influence
Explain and sport concentration - communication
Football - If I am concentrating on where my teammates are, I can tell them where the best option is to pass eg if I am in the midfield and am focussing on the left hand side, I can tell my teammate to play a long pass out to the space
Explain and sport - mental toughness - crowd influence
Football - If I am mentally tough, when the crowd is laughing at me and shouting at me during a football performance, I can keep playing my game normally and block them out of my head
This means concentration - communication
The winger can drive at the opponent and get a shot at goal
This means - mental toughness - crowd influence
I play football as I normally would and can help my team succeed rather than get nervous and give up
2 physical - social + impact
Negative - stamina - communication
Negative - agility - team dynamics
Explain and sport stamina - communication
Netball - If I am a GK and the game is coming to a closing stage, in the defensive half, with bad stamina I am out of breath and unable to effectively communicate. If my GD teammate gets the ball and has little options in front, she cannot hear that I am a free option behind her as I am too tired to say.
Explain and sport - agility - team dynamics
Football - If my agility is poor and I try to chase my marker in midfield and I lose them, allowing them to drive forward, my team may get annoyed at me and criticise me
This means stamina - communication
This means the GD has to play a risky pass forward that ends up being easily intercepted, therefore losing possession and letting the opposition start an attack.
This means - agility - team dynamics
Arguments can happen on the pitch causing the team to lose concentration and allow the other team to score
Physical - mental + impact
Negative - cre - concentration
Explain and sport - cre - concentration
Netball - If I am centre in netball and I have poor CRE then I can be too tired near the end of the game so I stop focussing on where the opposition centre is and lose them
This means - cre - concentration
The other centre can get the ball easily and play forward passes allowing their team to attack
2 physical - emotional and impact
Negative - consistency - fear
Negative - power - sadness
Explain and sport -consistency - fear
- power - sadness
If I am consistently playing smash shots out of the court in a game I can fear making that mistake
Explain and sport - - power - sadness
When playing in midfield, the ball was played high in the air and I had the opposition midfielder marking me. We both jumped to try and header the ball yet a lack of power in my legs did not allow me to win the header. This caused me to feel down and sad because I was not as strong.
This means -consistency - fear
I stop playing powerful shots so the opponent can easily return all of my shots
This means- - power - sadness
This knocked my confidence and caused me to be more reserved in my play.
Emotional - mental and impact
Negative - anger - decision making
Explain and sport - anger - decision making
football - If someone defending me kept pushing me, causing me to become angry, I can poorly react to them and let this distract me. For example, I could be so angry that when I receive the ball on the wing instead of staying composed and keeping possession within my team, I can end up taking a long shot with lots of power that ends up going off target.
This means - anger- decision making
This means the possession of the ball is lost and my team becomes frustrated with me for wasting an opportunity.
