Illinois agility test
PPW
Describe illinois agility test
-I started in the gym hall. I created a square 10m by 10m by measuring lines with a metre stick.
-I placed a cone at each corner and still using the metre stick I measured 5 metre points within 2 lines of the square and through the middle of the square placing 2 cones 3.3 metres apart in a straight line.
-I began at the first cone lying face down with my hands behind my back.
-When my teacher shouted go, he started a timer and I sprinted to the first cone and ran diagonally to the next cone. I had to slalom through the middle section twice, then another diagonal run and finally to the end.
-After I finished my teacher ended the timer and I compared my time to the norms to see if agility was a strength or a weakness of mine.
4 points explain why you chose Illinois agility test
Reliable test
Measurable
Practical and simple
Appropriate
Explain why you chose Illinois -reliable
Because it is a quantitative test, giving me a numerical result that I can compare to the norms.
Explain why you chose Illinois (this means) -reliable
This meant that there was no bias in my score and the time I got could not be argued, therefore my results are accurate and can be used to plan a development plan to improve agility.
Explain why you chose Illinois -measurable
This is helpful because it gave me a permanent record of my data, so the data was there forever and I could consistently look back on it.
Explain why you chose Illinois (this means) -measurable
This meant that after training, I could re-test and compare my old score to my new score, which can allow me to monitor how effective my training is and if it needs to be changed or not.
Explain why you chose Illinois -practical and simple
This meant that it was easy to set up, carry out and analyse my results due to the fact that the norms were readily available and could be interpreted easily.
Explain why you chose Illinois (this means) -practical and simple
This meant that the test was completed quickly and my results were appropriately analysed, allowing me to create an effective development plan to improve my weaknesses.
Explain why you chose Illinois -Appropriate
This is because it is a standardised test that is regularly used, that has norms and has been researched.
Explain why you chose Illinois (this means) appropriate
This means that I can trust my results are helpful and they can allow me to accurately create a training plan for improving my agility.
4 points of analyse illinois agility test
Done on a dry surface
Flat surface
The person timing is focussed
Keep my score digitally
Analyse illinois dry surface
Because if wet the ground can cause me to slip when turning around each cone which can slow my time due to me being weary about falling
Analyse illinois this means - dry surface
This means I have no way of telling if agility is a strength of mine and I create a PDP for the wrong weakness
Analyse illinois flat surface
Because if I am doing it uphill I could feel more tired than I would on low ground as I have to use more energy to complete the test
Analyse illinois this means - flat surface
I will slow down my pace by the end due to feeling tired and so my time can look slower compared to the norms, causing me to create incorrect targets
Analyse illinois person timing is focussed
Because if they aren’t they can end the time after I have finished the test, making my score look bigger than it truly was
Analyse illinois this means person timing is focussed
This means when comparing to the norms I may see myself being in the average section when I am actually very strong at agility so I set a PDP wasting time on a weakness that isn’t actually weak
Analyse illinois keep score digitally
Because if I forget my score from the first time, when retesting my agility I don’t know if I have improved or not
Analyse illinois this means keep score digitally
I will not know the effectiveness of my PDP and if anything needs changed
4 points evaluate Illinois
Reliable results
Measurable
Appropriate
Difficult to get timings correct
Evaluate Reliable results
Because it gives a quantitative time the result was free of bias and cannot be argued.
Evaluate this means reliable results
I could set approaches at the right intensity for my PDP.
Evaluate Measurable
Gave me a permanent record of my data, so the data was there forever and I could consistently look back on it
Evaluate this means measurable
This meant that after training, I could re-test and compare my old score to my new score, which can allow me to monitor how effective my training is and if it needs to be changed or not.
Evaluate Appropriate
This is because it is a standardised test that is regularly used, that has norms and has been researched.
Evaluate this means appropriate
This means that I can trust my results are helpful and they can allow me to accurately create a training plan for improving my agility.
Evaluate Difficult to get timings correct
Because the coach is taking 3 different performers times and may stop the watch at the wrong point
Evaluate this means difficult to get timings correct
Means my data is less reliable and may not accurately tell me what areas I need to work on so I waste time on a PDP that I do not need to do
