Minority influence
A minority persuades others to adopt their beliefs, attitudes & behaviours -> enact social change
Consistency (minority influence)
Keeping beliefs same diachronically (over time) & synchronically (amongst the whole majority) -> increases interest & leads those in majority to rethink
Commitment (minority influence)
Demonstrating dedication to their beliefs has a more powerful impact -> augmentation principle (making personal sacrifices for the cause)
Flexibility (minority influence)
Demonstrate an ability to be co-operative & reasonable & compromise with the majority thinking -> accepting valid counter-arguments
Snowball effect
Minority gain attention & gather momentum in their movement -> gradually become the majority, leading to social cryptoamnesia (forgetting how process occurred but aware of social change)
