What is social change?
The shift or change in society’s beliefs, behaviours and attitudes
It is a gradual change, and minority influence is usually the driving force behind societal changes
How do minorities change beliefs of the majority?
Through consistency, commitment, and flexibility
What is the snowball effect?
As people slowly convert to the minority it gets bigger and bigger, and then becomes the majority
What is synchronic consistency?
When the minority is consistent in beliefs among their members
What is Diachronic consistency?
When the minority is consistent over time?
What is social cryptomnesia?
People realising that the change from minority to majority has happened but not remembering when or how it happened
