Q

the Zajonc model

A

need to consider how performance will be effected and the type of skill being performed
the presence of co-actors can help when performing a simple skill
the presence of others will have a negative effect when performing a complex skill as as arousal levels increase , the ability to process information decreases

Q

performance and the dominant response

A

strong link between drive theory and the effect of an audience on performance
expert - responses are well learned, correct and performer automatically. effect of a crowd can promote facilitation
novice - responses are not well learned, unknown, incorrect and therefore response is made complex, effect of a crowd can promote inhibition
