how was social causation created?
it comes from the social approach, and derives from the fact that within the lower social classes and black immigrants there is a 4 in 100 incidences of schizophrenia.
what does social causation suggest?
low social classes or poverty either causes some schizophrenia or plays a part in it’s development - as well as suggesting that there is an environmental role in schizophrenia.
what environment is implicated more so with schizophrenia?
urban areas in comparison to rural ones, it is suggested that living in a town or city contributes to the disorder.
what factors contribute to the development of schizophrenia
unemployment, poverty, adversity in adult life, social isolation, living in inner city areas.
what is the environmental breeder hypothesis?
from looking at evidence from the census, shows high incident rates of schizophrenia amongst black African -Caribbean immigrants. - suggesting it may be a cause of their environment.
