describe Milgram’s original study
1- volunteers were invited to yale uni to do a study on ‘how punishment affects learning’
2- they were put in a room with a scientist which was a confederate observing them
3- they were told to give an electric shock every time the learner in the other room that couldnt be seen got a question wrong
4-when participants hesitated the confederate used prompts such as ‘the experiment requires you to continue’ or ‘I am taking full responsibility so please continue’
5- eventually hitting 450v, the learner would be silent and the ‘teacher’ would believe they had killed the learner
what was the true aim of milgrams experiment

How are ethics broken in milgrams study
The participants are deceived into thinking that they are doing a study into how punishment affects learning
possibly also because the participants now know that they can kill someone , mentally damaging them
