A
- this accepts that sport is producing developed at a particular time through the relationships and social networks of people who share similar views
- The links between these people and their social independence are the key ideas of such a theory

This is a way of viewing socialisation, emphasising the social action

A
- Sport has developed in a complex way alongside aspects of society such as class, structure, education and family. Social action theory stresses the fact that people can intervene in social processes and change them

Interactionist approach
A
- is the study of how individuals behave within society it is a theoretical process which stems from social process
- interactionism works from the individuals or society and stresses the fact that it is people who actually create society
- The ways people communicate and interact such as language/gestures are emphasised
- although it is accepted that society does not control individuals, there is always the opportunities for some creative actions. For the use of language, people negotiate the various social roles they are expected to play
