Quantitative And Qualitative Data Flashcards
Quantitive data
Data of the contacts facts or numbers
Qualitative data
Data that is descriptive and looks at the way people think or feel
Objective data
Fact (s)
-it is based upon facts and is measurable in fitness testing, objective tests involve a measurement and are therefore most likely to be accurate
Subjective data
Involves opinions
-is based upon personal opinions assumptions, interpretations and beliefs
Validity
When the test actually measures what it sets out to measure
- things to think about when assessing validity:
- is the research method relevant and does it do exactly what it sets out to do
- is the test sport – specific
Reliability
The test can be repeated accurately. And the results are consistent
To ensure a test is reliable: The tester should be experienced Equipment should be standardised Sequencing of tests is important Repetition of test should be possible to avoid human error
Exam tip one
Quantity requires a number quality requires an opinion
Exam tip two
Make sure you can give examples of fitness tests that use measurements for example the multistage fitness test
