Components Of Fitness Flashcards
Aerobic endurance/power
The ability of the cardiovascular system to transport oxygen and remove carbon dioxide under sustained exercise
Muscular endurance
Ability of a muscle or group of muscles to repeatedly contract without fatiguing
Muscular strength
The ability of a muscle or group of muscles to overcome resistance
Anaerobic power
Maximal power that is produced as a result of anaerobic glycolysis during short, all out exercise
Flexibility
The ability to move a limb or body part through its full range of movement
/types of training that go with components of fitness
.
Continuous training
Involves low intensity exercise for long periods of time without rest intervals, such as jogging swimming and cycling. It works on developing cardiovascular endurance
Fatlek training
The pace of the run is varied to stress both the aerobic system and anaerobic system
The word fart like a Swedish and it is a much more the morning type of training and will improve and individuals stamina and recovery times
Interval training
Is a form of training in which periods of intervals of high intensity work are followed with recovery periods. It is mainly used by elite athletes to improve aerobic power
Circuit training
The athlete performs a series of exercises at a set of stations
A circuit can be designed to cover any aspects of fitness but tends to be used to develop muscular endurance. It can also be designed to develop a sports specific skill
Weight training
Involves doing a series of resistant exercises for the use of free weights or fixed weights machines
Weight training can be used by everyone to develop muscular strength
A rep is a number of times you do a particular exercise and it says a number of cycles of repetitions that you do
PNF stretching
It is a form of passive stretching where the stretch is held by something other than the agonist muscle for example a partner or a wall
-it is one of the most effective form of flexibility training for increasing range of movement
