Soc-9 Flashcards
What is the long term effects of aerobic exercise?
Working at a moderate intensity with oxygen to Increase ability to work for long periods of time eg. Long disttance runner 5000m.
What is the long term effect of anaerobic training?
Anaerobic exercise - working at a high intensity level without oxygen.
Effects on muscle-skeletal system?
Increase strength of ligaments and tendon, increase in bon density, muscular hypertrophy and adaption.
Effects on cardio-respiratory system? (heart)
Decreased resting heart rate, faster recovery rate, increased resting stroke volume, maximum cardiac output, size and strength of the heart.
Effects of training on your blood? (3)
Improved fitness increases the number of capillaries in your muscles, increased number of red blood cells, Drop in resting blood pressure.
Effects on the respiratory system (3)
Increased lung capacity/volume and vital capacity, increased number of alveoli, increased strength of the diaphragm and external intercostal muscles.
Adaption
Your bodys response to training and how your body changes to cope with new activity.
Aerobic
Working at a moderate intensity level with oxygen.
Anaerobic
Working at a high intensity level without oxygen.
Alveoli
Tiny sacs within our lungs that allow oxygen and carbon dioxide to move between lungs and bloodstream.
Diaphgram
The primary muscle used in the process of insperation or inhalation.
Cardiac output
The amount of blood ejected from your heart in one minute (CO) = (SV) x (HR)
Resting stroke volume
The amount if blood pumped per beat.
Recovery rate
The speed at which your heart returns to RHR after you excersies.
