What is PAR-Q
Physical activity readiness questionaire often asked when joining a gym so they can find out were your at health wise and how ready you are to do physical activity
Why do people do PAR-Q’s
Most of us are fine to do exercise however some may have health conditions e.g severe asthma and e.g there trainer will need to be aware of this
It is designed to identify the small amount of adults for whom certain physical activity may not be appropriate
Why do we do warmups
-prepare the muscles
-prepare the joints
-prepare the mind
-prevents injury
-prepare the ligaments
-prepare the cardiovascular system

-cardiovascular phase
-streching phase

What is the cardiovascular phase of a warmup
Phase were you gradually raise the heart rate towards the working heart rate usually between 10-15 mins long and could be donecbe jogging, sprints e.c.t

Cardiovascular phase
What is the second phase of a warmup
Streching phase
What is the third and final phase of a warmup
Sport specific phase
What is done in the streching phase
Static streching-streching on the spot without straining and dynamic streching-movement specific to a sport to gradually increase your reach and speed
How long should you hold static streches for
Roughly 15-30 seconds
What is done in the sport specific phase of a warmup
You practice something specific to your sport e.g: a striker going to do shooting before the game
What does SMART stand for?
Specific,measurable,achievable,
realistic, time-bound
Why are SMART goals set
To motivate an athlete to reach their full potential
What does specific mean in SMART
Means knowing exactly what you want to achieve e.g: I want to run under 11 seconds for 100m. Fitness and performance should be evaluated before setting goals
What does measurable mean in SMART
Means it will be easy to know when goals are achieved e.g it is easy to know if someone has improved their distance in the 12 minute cooper run.
